Shortly about me and my investment approach
Hi, my name is Maksim and I’m a Co-founder at the WealthTech company Double Alpha Factory, which helps financial institutions make their wealth management divisions more efficient and scalable.
I spend a lot of time researching stocks and manage our company’s and my family’s stock portfolios.
My investing philosophy is so far mostly influenced by Peter Lynch, Monish Pabrai and Buffet/Munger (what a surprise), and I also enjoy reading a few substacks here (John Huber, Nat Stewart, Six Bravo from Special Situation Investing to name a few). But I am in a constant search for new ideas/inspirations.
I don’t restrict myself to a certain category of investments. Instead I focus on how sure I am that a certain investment can bring us above-average returns over the long-term. More on my investing approach here.
Since I manage money on behalf of the family and the company, I always try to keep the two most important investment rules in mind:
The first rule of an investment is don’t lose [money]. And the second rule of an investment is don’t forget the first rule.
Warren Buffet
I search for ideas in various sources:
Quantitative Screens
Portfolios of value-oriented hedge funds
Publications of fellow value investors
Occasional ideas from tweets, news, etc.
I’m preparing for my CFA exam at the moment, so I will occasionally share some finance- and accounting-related topics, which can help to better understand and analyze stocks.
My background is in software development, so I am fanatical about optimizing processes, including my own investment process which is a subject to constant optimization. I’d like to share with you all the tools and techniques which I develop along the way.
My goal here is to learn, get feedback and connect with other like-minded investors while hopefully providing some value to others along the way.
I’d like to connect in LinkedIn or X/Twitter, or you can always write me an e-mail at m.rodin@alpha-factory.de.
